Happy New Year! I spent the Christmas holiday with family in southern Oregon and while there I noticed the article, pictured below, in the local newspaper. This is why we wait a year or even a little more before we serve survivors. What you need to know:

Talent survivors are the first we served by providing ornaments. The fire in September 2020 resulted in the loss of 2300 homes. Many of these homes were apartments and senior housing. This apartment, affordable housing, just opened. One of the new residents commented,”Our apartment was gone after the fire. We have been couch surfing ever since”. Couch surfing for three years! There are three more complexes planned which is great but it has been more than 3 years!

This is not unusual. Government regulations and insurance claims make rebuilding a nightmare. What are you hearing about survivors in Maui now, four month ago, or Tennessee tornado survivors just three weeks ago? Nothing. This is why we serve so survivors will understand they have not been forgotten. Thank you!

We will be serving survivors in Tennessee this year. We are still exploring other areas and will announce other areas as soon as we have things in place.
